Anti-Spam Email Faves

OK, this is my first post, and I want to begin by looking at my favourite anti-spam email provider – Bluebottle Anti-Spam Email. I have had accounts with all the major free email package providers, and I absolutely reckon that this one tops them all. Their website actually has an anti-spam solution comparison chart, with all the major players, that was actually the deciding factor for me in choosing them. They just had a lot more ticks than all the rest.

You see, BB runs special anti-spam software and systems that automatically check and authenticate incoming email. I don’t know all the ins and outs of it, and I probably don’t need to, but unlike Gmail or Live, eliminating the threat of spam is what they are all about! That’s why they’re called Bluebottle Anti-Spam Email, you know!

They use a few anti-spam systems that I’ve heard of before – Trusted Delivery Email Verification, which operates behind the scenes, basically verifies that the user is actually who they say they are (which is really useful – the other day I almost fell for a MySpace spoof that tried to get my password) and tags them if they aren’t, while industry standard anti-spam filter SpamAssasin checks for all the standard words you find in spam.

Even just these two defences do really well, but the major drawcard is the pretty revolutionary Challenge-Response system they use. There’s a whole Wikipedia article on it, if you’re interested, or you can learn about Challenge-Response Anti-Spam Technology straight from the horse’s mouth. Basically, if someone that you don’t know sends you an email, they get sent a verification request with a link they have to click, or their email never gets through. Obviously, spammers aren’t the best at responding to emails (they haven’t learned how to automate that, yet), so they are never verified and you never receive their rubbish. It’s really simple, easy and basically something you never need to worry about.

I don’t know how often I’m going to be able to update this, but at least I’ve gotten this rant out of the way. If there is one anti-spam email provider that I would recommend, it would definitely be Bluebottle Anti-Spam.
